A Flying Oxymoron And A Weird Frog

I woke up to a beautiful, sunny day. It was about 26 degrees outside and no wind whatsoever. I could not wait to go to a park again. I asked my parents, and they were totally ok with it. At about 12:00, we hopped in the car, and went to the park. It was the same one we went to yesterday, but this time we went all the way to the end of it. When we got there, we parked the car, and started our journey.

We saw the same usual animals (turtles, herons, etc). But at some point we got to a log, and on top of it stood a beautiful bird. I know, it is black, but it also has beautiful colors on its wings. I have not seen this bird before, and that is mostly because it is migratory. It is called the, "Tricolored blackbird". I called it a flying oxymoron because cannot be tricolored when it is black! This bird is actually endangered.

After that, we headed down the river, all the way to the end of the park. Since I only saw one new bird, I decided to go all the way back to the other end of the park. It is a long journey to cross this park.

When we reached the other side, I went down next to the water to smell it and see what animals lie around. I looked to my left, nothing. I looked to my right, nothing. But wait, I looked closer into the water. A big fat frog was taking a bath, and rubbing all the dirt he had on his back. He was bumpy, and his eyes were like nothing I had ever seen before. And trust me, I have seen pretty ugly frogs in my life. I was very quiet, not to disturb him. His ugly eye was looking at me, and the frog was about to jump into the water. I quickly snapped a couple of photos, before he jumped. I made a move, and the frog disappeared inside, leaving a huge splash behind. Thanks to Google, I identified the frog, and he is called the, "American Bullfrog".

I was trying to free my leg from all the vines, and I think I was shaking a bit too much, and my camera strap got loose! In a blink of an eye, the camera fell off my neck, and not into the water. Of course, I have great reflexes, and I caught it in time before it turned into food  for the frogs. Carefully, I went back to the car, and we headed home. I sighed from relief and uploaded my pictures for today.

  1. I particularly like the depth of the photo with the exposed tree roots.
